Agent Pitch Contest on Market My Words

In a similar contest on Operation Awesome, one of my critique partners got an "honorable mention"--which led to a request for a full! This is a great exercise, also, to distill your book into just a few sentences.

Pretty simple to enter on Shelli's blog ; this month's agent is Susan Hawk of The Bent Agency.

Oh man, I'm so bad at queries, let alone pitches. It IS a great exercise, though. I should start working on mine, just to have it.

I thought you did a great job on your pitch, Shadya! I obviously have no idea if it sums up your book well since I'm not familiar with Spitfire, but your pitch is succinct and seems to have the important bits.

I didn't know about this, thank you! I'm going to give it a try!

Hi Amie, the contest is over for this month, but Shelli repeats it about the first week of each month with new agents. It's worth starting on your pitch now, though--you might need it for something else, plus it's a useful exercise to nail down the heart of your book.
