YA Highway often does a "best book you read" for the last Road Trip Wednesday each month, and a lot of us have trouble picking just one title!
So for today's blogfest, they want us to list our "Top Five Favorite Books of 2011" Yay, we get five whole books to list! Many of these titles will be familiar to other road trippers, because they were recommended by me or other participants in posts throughout the year. And I'm a visual person, so I'm including all the covers.
In no particular order (confession: because I couldn't decide how to rank them), here are my Top 5 Favorite YA Books of 2011
I do have a warning included for Scorpio Races in a previous post here.
So what are your top 5? Do you have any recommendations to add to my reading list for next year?

As I go on this road trip I'm realizing I have a lot of reading to do. I haven't read any of these books. I never even heard of Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson. I just Googled it and it is at the top of my TBR list now. I read my first book by her this year, Twisted and it made my top ten favorite list.
New Follower :)
I LOVE LHA, but I haven't read Chains yet. Must do that!
I need to get to Scorpio Race ASAP lol the blurb sounds so amazing!
Great list!
A couple of these are on my TBR list for next year. Hopefully I'll have some time for writing next year amidst all the reading I need to do!
I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone too! Great choices. There are a few I haven't read on your list...must add to my to-read list!
I have been wanting to get my hands on Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Shipbreaker! Maybe after I make it through all the great new titles I got for Christmas :)
I just got White Cat a few weeks ago and haven't had a chance to read it yet. Glad to see it on a top 5 list!
Wow, Daughter of Smoke and Bone is getting a lot of love this time around!
And Chains was recommended to me originally by an agent, as an example of how internal dialogue should be done.
I loved White Cat too! And I want to read Scorpio Races ASAP. MY top five are:
1. White Cat
2. Red Glove
3. Divergent
4. If I Stay
5. Nightshade
I loved The Scorpio Races :-)...
Reading all these posts is making me realize how many books I need to read, and how little time I have to read them, haha.
I was trying to resist, but today I went to the library website and requested a bunch of books from all the other lists. They didn't have Lola yet though!
I am next in line at the library for Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I'm so excited! And I've been hearing really great things about The Scorpio Races. I haven't really figured out what my top five are, but I'm sure Divergent and Shatter Me are on it.
Good road trip Wednesday choices! I've read 3 of these (it's amazing how different all the lists are).
I cheated and just posted my top 10 list though (I was already working on it for the blog). Getting it down to 10 was hard enough.
Great list. I haven't read any of these, but I'd like to. Daughter of Smoke and Bones is in my TBR pile.
I was blown away by Imaginary Girls, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, and Divergent this year.
Happy New Year!
Hi there--I came over from Janice Hardy's blog!
I haven't read any of the books on your list, but Ship Breaker is near the top of my Giant Ridiculous TBR Pile. I cheated and read the first couple chapters, though. A fun book you might want to check out, since you liked that one, is Steven Gould's 7th Sigma. It has a similar flavor to at least the little bit of Ship Breaker that I read.
Happy New Year!
Hi Angelica! I found you through Janice Hardy's blog, too. I was fortunate enough to meet Laurie during her tour for Chains and Laini Taylor during her promotion of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Two of my favorite authors and both great novels. I recently blogged about my favorites of the year, too.
I totally need to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. My favorites for 2011 (in no particular order)
Raw Blue by Kirsty Eager
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta
Divergent
Anna and the French Kiss
I could probably name two dozen others as well.
Have a happy new year!!
