RTW: Best Book(s) of July 2012

Road Trip Wednesday is a "Blog Carnival," where YA Highway's contributors and followers post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on their blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

This week's topic: What was the best book you read in July?

I don't even fight the singular "book" any longer! I'm just going to post however many I want, since I don't do actual reviews and these posts serve as a way to rec (and find) new reads. Writing was a little lighter this month as I surged through my WIP. I've already mentioned one book, Okay for Now by Gary Schmidt, and that would otherwise top the list. So here are my other picks:

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson.
Did anyone else pick up a bunch of those $2.99 ebooks that Harper put on sale? I got about four, and this was one that sounded interesting but wasn't really on my radar. But I loved the worldbuilding, the theme of a girl finding her strengths, and the characters.

The next on is Hourglass by Myra McEntire

This one I knew about because the cover is so gorgeous, so I finally got around to reading it. Some sizzling romance, damaged characters, strange goings-on--what's not to love?

Feel free to put a link to your post in the comments if you played along with Road Trip Wednesday. Don't forget to go to the YA Highway post and read all the answers!

GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS is sitting on my shelf as we speak, and it's high time I got to it. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I also have HOURGLASS on my Kindle, and still need to read it. Too many books, so little time. :)

Ooh! Sizzling romance and damaged characters sounds exactly like everything I love in a book :)

I also posted on my favourite book for July.
I'm glad I saw your review for Fire and Thorns. I'm just finishing Maria V Snyder's 'Study Series' and it seems the perfect book to read after it.

I LOVE HOURGLASS!!! And Timepiece is from Kaleb's POV. LOVE!!!!!

Also, I just picked up TGOFAT from the library, read the first page (because I couldn't resist) and cannot wait until I have a few hours to devour it!

Great reading month indeed!

I confess GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS doesn't really lures me to it. Not the blurb at least. Maybe I should get a sample and try it.
Now, Hourglass is on my TBR list for a while. Ai, ai, my long TBR list. Wish I could get through it without adding any more LOL

I've heard good things about both. Hourglass has been on my wish list for some time now. Maybe I should go ahead and pick it up.

I loved Hourglass as well and read Timepiece this month. Wish I'd read them back to back though since I didn't remember a lot of stuff.

Girl of Fire and Thorns sounds interesting, I've heard of it in other places. On to my TBR it goes!

Darn! I missed that Harper deal, and I would have got this if I'd seen it. Oh well... it's going on my TBR. :)
