Book Launch Recap

My book launch for Crow's Rest at Avid Reader at Tower in Sacramento was so much fun! Lots of friends and family came out to support me and my debut book--my parents even sent me a handmade lei to the store.

But if you missed the event, never fear--there are a few more signings already scheduled. On June 6th from 12 noon-2 PM, I'll be at Face in a Book in the El Dorado Hills Town Center. And also be in Nashville, Tennessee, at UtopYA Con, signing on June 20.

And don't forget that you can still enter to win a copy of Crow's Rest, here through Rafflecopter, and on Goodreads (ends May 24).

Now for pictures from the launch!

Danna Wilberg, who interviewed me on her TV show, Story Connection, came to the launch for a picture with my alter ego

I got so many compliments on this dress! I bought it last year, specifically to wear at my book launch

I'm either talking really fast with my hands here, or doing the handjive

My hubby snapped this picture while we were still setting up

Now that the launch is behind me, I can dive back into writing the sequel to Crow's Rest!

Crow's Rest News

I got my finished, author copies of Crow's Rest in the mail today, squee! It feels so REAL!

But that's not the only news--you can also get a sneak peek at the first two chapters of Crow's Rest, either on this blog on the Novels page, or on the Goodreads site (click the "Read Book" button).

And...
To celebrate the release of Crow's Rest, from May 11-14 we'll be holding a blog hop! It will feature an excerpt where Avery shares some spooky encounters at a local haunted castle, and the hop participants can share their own experiences with ghosts or other unexplained events. I'm really looking forward to reading everyone's stories! I'll have a post on Operation Awesome on May 12, release day, and if I can find it I'll include my photographic proof that the Fae are real. ;)

If you don't have a blog and would like to participate, never fear--there are plenty of other ways to take part, including on the Crow's Rest Facebook page. Please sign up for the hop through the Google form.

Crow's Rest is now on NetGalley, so if you want to request a copy before the bloghop, you can do that here.

Hooray for good news!

Let the One-Month Countdown Begin!

Crow's Rest releases on May 12, and that's only a month away! I spent yesterday leading a bird walk, but today I'm celebrating the countdown with a few posts.

Brenda Drake is hosting a reveal of the first five pages of Crow's Rest on her blog today--thanks, Brenda, for sharing my book!

On Operation Awesome, I have a post On Contests and Community, where I talk about how much the friends and connections I've made in the writing community have meant to me.

And there's more to come this week--watch for some other news on Wednesday, and then on Friday my post for Fearless Fridays will go up on the Fearless Fifteeners blog. You won't want to miss that, if you'd like to see me sing on camera!

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

The truth is that Jess knows she screwed up.She's made mistakes, betrayed her best friend, and now she's paying for it. Her dad is making her spend the whole summer volunteering at the local soup kitchen.

The truth is she wishes she was the care-free party-girl everyone thinks she is.
She pretends it's all fine. That her "perfect" family is fine. But it's not. And no one notices the lie...until she meets Flynn. He's the only one who really sees her. The only one who listens.

The truth is that Jess is falling apart – and no one seems to care.
But Flynn is the definition of "the wrong side of the tracks." When Jess's parents look at him they only see the differences-not how much they need each other. They don't get that the person who shouldn't fit in your world... might just be the one to make you feel like you belong.

And don't forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Janet Gurtler, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is 9. Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on TEAM TEAL and you'll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!
